For 12 days I’m sharing ideas for stocking stuffers or gifts for the sewers in your life (or to add to your own list). Here’s another idea:
Christmas Gift Idea #9: Sulky Stabilizers
If you have a sewer on your list who does machine embroidery, stabilizers are a must. There are many kinds out there – each has a different “specialty” – one for light fabrics, knits, wovens, stabilizers to use on top of your fabric, on the back of your fabric, soluble, iron on, tear away, etc.
Here’s an idea for a nice gift. Start with the Sulky Stabilizer Sampler Pack.
This includes one sheet each of 19 different stabilizers.
Rather than use these, I keep them in a reference binder organized by type (cut-away, tear-away, wash-away and heat-away). That way, when I have a project I can see what stabilizer would work best.
Each one is labeled so you know what it is and what type it is.
The package also includes all sorts of useful information.
You can get the sampler pack for just about $10 on Amazon.com – it’s a deal!
To go beyond stocking stuffer, you could add to this with an assortment of some of the more commonly used stabilizers, or – go the other way and do an assortment of specialty stabilizers – those your sewer may not have on hand. You can find something like this on Overstock.com for around $40.00.
A gift of stabilizer is useful and can inspire creativity. Anyone with an embroidery machine would appreciate it for sure!
I hope this offers an idea you can use for gifting this season.
Merry Christmas and Happy Sewing!
